Music To Die For - The Killers

I first didn't pay much attention to this band because their musical approach  did not agree with me initially. It all changed when they made a guest appearance on the hit TV Show - The OC -  where they played Mr. Brightside and Smile Like You Mean It. After that, I was hooked.
Their music has always been diverse and hence not all people like every song. For eg. I did not like their song Sam's Town at all, but my best mate loves it. But songs like Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me, Smile Like You Mean It, When You Were Young, Read My Mind, All These Things That I've Done have been imprinted into my memory. Every time I hear the intro for Brightside, it gives me a shot of adrenaline, or it would seem so. Their latest album named - Day & Age - has yet to grow on me although the single Human has already found a place on my Must-Have List. Watch the video.

I do apologize for not posting sooner, but due to the recent horrible Terror Attacks in Mumbai, I was quite preoccupied with the security of me and my family.

I would recommend to watching videos of The Killers, or hear their songs on the radio before you decide to buy the disc as it doesn't always agree with everyone.

The Heart Of Life - John Mayer

Yes, the song is great; but there the title of this entry is much more than just a song's name. John Mayer has brought to the music world what I would call "The Music Force". His songs are so laid back, yet so powerful. He is one of a few artists that actually writes his own lyrics, and as we have seen, he ain't that bad! His jazzy, bluesy, alternative type music has appealed to many types of music lovers all over the world.

Songs like Why Georgia, Your Body Is A Wonderland, Back To You, Bigger Than My Body, Clarity, Daughters, I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You), I'm Gonna Find Another You, i could go on and on. Almost every song that he has sung in is great in its own way.

Songs to really watch out for are My Stupid Mouth, Why Georgia, Clarity, Say, Slow Dancing In A Burning Room, The Heart Of Life, Waiting On The World To Change, just to start you off. Again, I recommend getting all the albums due to each song's effect on different people.

The Soul of Music - Coldplay

Music so sweet, you can almost taste it; That is what Coldplay offers. Songs they started out with - Yellow, God Put A Smile On Your Face - were not only soothing but also offered a bit of excitement. They moved on to more melodic, but still soothing songs like Fix You, The Hardest Part, The Speed Of Sound, etc.

Now, with Viva La Vida, they have outdone themselves by making an album which I believe they themselves call a "smoothie"; music that just goes down smoothly.

Songs to watch out for are Violet Hill, Viva La Vida, Lost, Yes, Lovers In Japan-Reign Of Love, Strawberry Swing, Death And All His Friends, well thats almost all of them!

Again, get all their albums, you never know what you might like.

Switchfoot - The Music

Oh! Gravity, ain't thou a pain in the neck! That's what Jonathan Foreman must've said to himself when he wrote the song. The Music that Switchfoot have brought to this world is not only great, it has opened a whole new space for their Music to flourish. The word Alternative Rock took on a whole new meaning.

According to the band members Jon Foreman (vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass guitar, backing vocals), Chad Butler (drums, percussion), Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and Drew Shirley (guitar), the band name Switchfoot suited them perfectly. This is because Switchfoot means to take a new stance facing the opposite direction. Hence, it's metaphorically about change and movement, a different way of approaching life and music.

From the Legend Of Chin to Oh! Gravity, Switchfoot have gradually cemented their place in the music industry as one of the few bands to be acknowledged as pioneers in their own music. They have created a new type of sound they call "The Switchfoot Sound" which will take many decades (at least for me) to forget.

There are so many songs that I must list down as "Soul Lifting" or "Earth Shattering" music. Even as I type this blog I'm listening to one of their songs, and it still fills me with its awesomeness!

Beautiful videos, great lyrics, amazing Music is what makes Switchfoot one of my favourite bands that I have ever listened to.

I will add my favourite songs to the Must-Have List, however I recommend you listen to every song on their albums. Every song offers something to someone.

Until next time......

Perfect Example

I will explain the meaning of Soul Lifting Music with a perfect example; a woman called Imogen Heap. Though the name does sound odd, do not underestimate this woman's musical talent. People who have seen Shrek 1 would recall her voice in the credits when she sang for the group Frou Frou in the song Holding Out For A Hero. Her popularity increased when her song Hide and Seek was selected for the infamous Drama Series The OC. She later also covered Hallelujah for the 4th Season of the same. Her latest contact with the film industry was when she wrote a song for the end of the movie - Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe - called Can't Take It In.
Songs to look out for are Goodnight and Go, Hide And Seek, Can't Take It In and Loose Ends. Albums are IMegaphone (anagram of Imogen Heap) and Speak For Yourself. She also released a new single a month or so ago called "Headlock".

Now all these songs have such emotion attached to it that you will actually feel the music; which is amazing!

I will try to (as much as I can) upload YouTube videos.

Introduction

Music is the soul of man; that's what I always say. Yes, this blog is only about Music. If you were expecting the story of my life or some extraordinary discovery, you've come to the wrong place.

This blog is directed towards a certain type of music. No its not a specific genre. In fact, songs from different genres come together to form this type of music. I call it Soul-Lifting Music. Some might think I'm a retard, while most of you music lovers will understand what I am talking about.

My list of artists is too long to note down, and I do not want to accidentally leave anyone out of it. So I will provide a little info on certain Songs, Artists, Albums that you might have heard or heard about, but might have brushed off, because your too much into your own music.

If you want to broaden your music sense as well as increase the number of your favorite artists, watch out for my next post.
